Our holiday dinner at the Johnson’s was wonderful!  Thank you so much, Tim & Katy, for opening your home to us.

Earlier that morning, we had a fantastic turn-out for the Spirit of Giving Run & Ride. SCBC led a ride from 11th & M to the Dry Creek Trail with a snack stop at the Claus turn-around.  We had an amazing group of about 60 riders, mostly families, who had a cold but very nice morning.

Many thanks to the SCBC volunteers who made it all happen! I talked to several riders who thanked us for making this such a fun ride they could do with their families.  I loved seeing them enjoy it so much, too!

Are you new to bike riding, and/or, a new member of SCBC?

We want to help you “learn the ropes” and to meet and get to know you better.  If you have questions or just want to listen to others’ questions about bike riding, repair or equipment, we would like to be available to you at a special meeting to answer your questions.

If you need more information about our rides, routes, or how to get more involved, please join us at these orientations.  When: Three times this year (in Jan., April & Sept.) at 6:00, before the General Meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

Now, we turn our attention to our annual NEW YEAR’S DAY RIDE.  I have a couple of volunteers in the kitchen but I could use a couple more. Other than that, RIDE! I’ll see you at the top with a warm fire and breakfast burrito.

Happy Riding in the New Year,

Susan

We had 280 riders participate in this year’s Cheese & Wine Century! We also had lots of wonderful volunteers, which insured that our event went very well! Thank you to everyone who helped!

It takes many areas of expertise and knowledge, to make this ride run smoothly. Thank you to all of you who gave your experience to this year’s event!

On December 10, we can look forward to two events. In the morning, SCBC is helping Modesto Park and Recreation with their Spirit of Giving Run & Ride. We are sponsoring a family ride on the Dry Creek Trail.

Then in the evening, we will have our annual Holiday Dinner and Social at Tim & Katy’s (details in Pacelines). Hope to see you at both events on Saturday, Dec. 10th.

Also, we will be starting a new SCBC club jersey order in January. I’m hoping to get at least 10 women’s jerseys ordered so I can have one! : )

Any winter items can also be ordered at that time. We need a minimum of 10 items of each kind to complete the order. You can start sending me your orders now!

The Cancer Awareness Run & Ride was such an awesome community event last month.  Thank you to all our SCBC members who worked throughout the event to make it happen. We had 740 riders!! Wow!

Now for our own Cheese & Wine Century. We are still asking for a few more volunteers. Come to the Round Table meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and see where you can help.

Then, let’s support other area rides, too.  The Fun Sport’s Ride to Cure Cancer is Sunday, Oct. 16.

The City of Modesto Parks & Recreation, along with ShadowChase and SCBC, are sponsoring a Spirit of Giving Run & Ride on Dec. 10.

Hope to see you at all these fantastic events!

The beautiful fall weather is here for riding… and for volunteering!

We still need volunteers for the Cancer Awareness Run & Ride on Saturday, Sept. 17 (7:30 am – 11:00 and 10:30 – 1:30).

And we really need some volunteers to cover the SCBC booth at this event, also (7:00 am to 2:00). If you can help, I’d love to hear from you!!

Next, is our own Cheese & Wine Century. It’s a great time to pull together for SCBC. With the funds raised from this ride SCBC has donated to various food banks, bought helmets for kids, worked toward Share-the-Road signs, helped disabled kids learn to ride, supported Triumph and several other local and professional bike rides.

Your efforts help keep riding safe and fun for us, and others.

Susan
