Supporting bicycle education and safety

Our holiday dinner at the Johnson’s was wonderful!  Thank you so much, Tim & Katy, for opening your home to us.

Earlier that morning, we had a fantastic turn-out for the Spirit of Giving Run & Ride. SCBC led a ride from 11th & M to the Dry Creek Trail with a snack stop at the Claus turn-around.  We had an amazing group of about 60 riders, mostly families, who had a cold but very nice morning.

Many thanks to the SCBC volunteers who made it all happen! I talked to several riders who thanked us for making this such a fun ride they could do with their families.  I loved seeing them enjoy it so much, too!

Are you new to bike riding, and/or, a new member of SCBC?

We want to help you “learn the ropes” and to meet and get to know you better.  If you have questions or just want to listen to others’ questions about bike riding, repair or equipment, we would like to be available to you at a special meeting to answer your questions.

If you need more information about our rides, routes, or how to get more involved, please join us at these orientations.  When: Three times this year (in Jan., April & Sept.) at 6:00, before the General Meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

Now, we turn our attention to our annual NEW YEAR’S DAY RIDE.  I have a couple of volunteers in the kitchen but I could use a couple more. Other than that, RIDE! I’ll see you at the top with a warm fire and breakfast burrito.

Happy Riding in the New Year,

Susan

I hope your summer riding is going well!

I know we are enjoying our summer rides, BBQ’s & swim parties.  A special thank you to R J Corwin for hosting our July Pool Party on such short notice.  Our August Pool Party & BBQ will be in Patterson, at Bob Kimball’s home.

And as we finish up our summer fun, we roll into a busy time of year for SCBC. Several local fund raising events need your help.  Please volunteer when and where you can.

The Cancer Awareness Run & Ride is on Sept. 17.  I’m helping organize registration.  Contact me (Susan Dion) or Kathy Boyd if you want to help with registration.  Contact Dave Enz if you would like to help with SAG (Support And Gear).

Our own Riverbank Cheese & Wine Century is on October 9,  contact John Field if you would like to help with this event.

The Triumph Ride from Fun Sports is on Oct. 16.  Contact Brian or Dave E. at Fun Sport Bikes to help with the Triumph event.

We have helped with all these important community rides in the past, and they continue to need your support moving into the future.

All of these events need help with registration, SAG, and pre-organizing and set-up.  I hope you can help our bicycle club show our support for these local events!

Keep riding,

Susan

This year’s SCBC trip to Tahoe was fantastic! We rode, hiked, ate, talked and enjoyed the awesome weather.

The water was abundant everywhere and made for beautiful waterfalls and the constant soothing bubbling of water running over rocks.

I hope more of you mark your calendars to come on this trip next year, you won’t be sorry! Set aside the week after Father’s Day.

I hope you are enjoying your summer riding season as much as I am! Remember to come out for the rides at Dave’s and Bob’s as we also bbq and swim. Thanks for being our hosts – Dave & Bob!

And you can also join us for the 4th of July parade. Come decorate your bike and ride in the parade for SCBC.

See you riding,

Susan
