New Bike Racks at Corner Cafe, Oakdale
If you haven’t seen the new bike racks that SCBC purchased, they were installed at the Corner Cafe in Oakdale. You can now park (and lock?) your bike there in the bike rack, thanks to Tim J. & Chuck S. Join us on the Friday morning breakfast ride!
Thanks also to Lindy and Lois Frantz for their faithful leading of the monthly beginner’s ride on the first Saturday. It is a great place to start learning to ride and learning more about SCBC.
This month, SCBC will also be riding to help runners in the Modesto Marathon. And on April 16, we will have a booth at Earth Day Festivities in Modesto. We are planning another Bicycle Swap Meet on April 17.
Volunteer opportunities are still available for both of these events. Send an e-mail me at president@stancobike.org and ask me to put you on the volunteer list. Then, of course, we have more great opportunities for volunteers in May!
You can get involved by volunteering to help with the Tour of California, along with many others from our community. Visit: http://www.modestogov.com/amgen/volunteer.aspx Get involved today.
SCBC is growing thanks to you. Together we can make a difference for bicycle riders in Stanislaus County!

We’re off to another great year!
Thank you to Liz, Bruce, Tiffany, Louis, Trudy and Nick for helping to start it off the right way by volunteering to serve us all breakfast on New Year’s Day.
Next, is our helping at the Modesto Marathon on March 20th. We have several riders signed up to ‘SAG’ the runners by riding along the route. Cool – we get to ride and help!
After that, comes the Turlock Lake Road Race on April 9. Come out to help and learn about road racing. Contact me if you can help. And, of course, we are leading up to the Tour of California. As always, SCBC is the backbone of our volunteer force.
Thank you for what you do to promote bicycling in Stanislaus County!

We started our New Year out with a wet but fun ride up to Frank Raines park in Del Puerto Canyon. Even though Murphy’s Law seemed to be at work, we eventually got the stoves working prepared a tasty breakfast and had a warm place for everyone to sit and eat. Thank you SO MUCH to Liz and Bruce, Tiffany and her friend Louis, and to Trudy. Without their help, it wouldn’t have happened!
Don’t miss our general meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 6:00. Rueben and Theresa have a ride to share with us. Also, we will be passing out a calendar of events which SCBC plans to support. But, of course,
we need your help to support these events.
One of the first opportunities for SCBC is to ride the Modesto Marathon route and help runners and organizers to keep everyone safe. We have done this for a couple of years and ShadowChase has been very grateful. If you can ride and help with this event, please call Dave Enz at 988-9862. We need about 5 – 7 more riders.
Join John H., Dave and myself in helping our fellow exercise enthusiasts.
Have a Healthy and Prosperous New Year,
Susan

I was just looking over our club pictures on the website. What an exciting, busy year it has been! I hope if you didn’t have a chance to join us in one of our club trips, you will get to this coming year.
We have been ‘extending’ many of our rides to areas outside of Stanislaus County and have enjoyed the change of scenery and the companionship of riding together along with adding some more challenges to the ride. Come out and try one!
This month, we will be finalizing our SCBC jersey orders. Our deadline will be Dec. 11 – at the Holiday Social. You should be receiving a letter with more information about both of those. Hope to see you there!
Have a happy and blessed holiday season,
Susan
