IT’S HERE – MAY!!!

Where do I begin?

Let’s begin with this month’s highlight – the TOUR OF CALIFORNIA.  (Maybe I’m biased!)  On Wednesday, May 19 the TOC will be racing into Modesto to the Stage 4 Finish Line at 12th & I.

Many of you have already signed-up to volunteer on that day.  If you haven’t, it’s not too late!

We also need volunteers to run our SCBC booth during the race and earlier in the day at the RIDE TO WORK event.

Also that morning, the HARVEST MOON CRITERIUM, sponsored by SCBC and CdV will take place on part of the Stage 4 route.  Come see local bike racers in action!

Saturday, May 15th is the FAMILY CYCLING FESTIVAL and the MODESTO CRITERIUM.  SCBC will have a booth setup to answer questions about the club and bicycle safety.

There are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved and help at any of these events.  Plus, you’ll be right in the middle of all the action!

Sunday, May 16 is the MODESTO ROAD RACE.  So much to do!

The Tour of California, Modesto PRE-RIDE is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th.  We will be starting and ending at the Modesto Court House lawn, 800 11th Street at 9:00 am.  The ride will be an easy, 21 mile ride for all community members and our bicycle club.  Come ride with us!

I’m sure I may have forgotten something so keep informed on Yahoo! Groups and check our website often for updates.

See you everywhere in May!

Make sure to take a look at our new Cheese & Wine Ride page on our website.  What a great way to let someone find out all about our ride with pictures and a new quick loading page of information.

Also, take note of some new rides added to the ride schedule.  Included this month, two rides with the Stockton Bike Club.  Watch for news of our Bike Swap in April with the CdV race club.

Another year has passed and in April we will once again be voting for SCBC Board president, secretary and treasurer.  If  you have a nomination, you may e-mail me or any other current Board Member and let them know.  Remember, we have room for you if you would like to be on the Board!

Looking forward to a busy biking year,
Susan

SCBC is growing!

In our ever widening presence we are hoping to reach out to not only the bicycling community but also to the larger community. Ever thought of a way you can help spread the love of cycling? The SCBC Board is currently researching several options.

Think about how you can help in mentoring a youth by teaching them about the joy of riding, or by supplying bikes and helmets to needy students who earn their bikes through work and good behavior.

We are looking into these programs and will let you know how you can help in months to come.

Stay tuned…. Susan
